World war, a game of soccer, and a temporary truce - An incredible story of humanity
The story is almost unbelievable because of how absurd it seems on the surface
Hello my friend,
Welcome to another edition of Simpler Sundays by VyasSpeaks.
Thank you for putting up with me last week when I said I wasn’t happy with the post that I had shared. I expect a lot more from myself in terms of the quality of content I share with you. But just for the sake of being consistent, I shared a post I felt was not up to the mark.
But that said, I am quite happy with the featured post for this week. I wanted to share this incredible story for the last 3 weeks but couldn’t figure out the right way of presenting this.
Anyhow, my short story, ‘The Salesman’, which won the first prize in the ‘Write Away’ contest was recently released by the MyndStories podcast. If you haven’t listened to it yet, you can check it out here - https://myndstories.com/allpodcast/the-one-with-the-salesman/ (Or simply click on the image below).
That said, I am sticking with the new format that I changed last week. Let me know what you think of the new format.
Also, I hope you enjoy reading this week’s featured post. It’s an incredible real-life story that seems unbelievable.
Happy reading!

Movie/Series recommendation of the week
Starting this week, I would be sharing a movie or series that I feel is worthy of a watch.
I enjoy watching all sorts of movies and series, even if they’ve got bad reviews. One of its side effects is that I sometimes stumble upon hidden gems. This section would primarily be a place for me to share these hidden gems with you.
For this week’s recommendation, I would like to share the recently released movie - Bawaal featuring Varun Dhawan and Janhavi Kapoor, directed by Nitesh Tiwari.
The movie is available to watch on Amazon Prime.
What annoyed me was the fact that this movie was given terrible reviews by most major critics. While movies like Rocky Raani get praised, such gems are bashed by these so-called ‘reputed’ critics.
My advice? Don’t listen to them. This is genuinely one of the finest movies of 2023. Its storytelling feels fresh. And kudos to the makers who have used history in a way that fits the Indian context. Barring a few logical loopholes in the story, this is a gem of a movie. Truly wholesome. ❤️
To be honest, if I were to write a movie someday, I would like to write something like this i.e. using historical facts and then crafting an Indian story around it. Nitesh Tiwari’s characters are likable and wholesome. That’s the kind of world I’d like to create in my stories as well.
Watch this and let me know if you liked it. You can also suggest me a movie/series and if I like it, I might add it to my next week’s recommendation.
Now, without further ado, let’s move to the featured post, the reason you subscribe to Simpler Sundays.
