If I ask you about your role model, what would your answer be?
Making a case for a slight change in perspective
Hello my friend,
Welcome to another edition of Simpler Sundays by VyasSpeaks.
With the increasing delays I am sending this weekly newsletter with, I should rename this Simpler Mondays instead. :D
Anyhow, last week I was in my hometown in Himachal where I enjoyed the seasonal rains. Except for the massive destruction these rains have caused in the last few years, I like them. I like the fact that the rainy season makes everything greener. Everywhere you see, you can find greenery that is soothing for the eyes.
But I came back to Delhi NCR yesterday to join a full-time role (finally). After struggling for the last 2-3 months to sustain myself through full-time freelancing, I decided to come back to a regular paycheck and do a full-time on-site role. It’s not ideal but I realized having a steady source of income in this volatile market is essential + full-time roles also give you opportunities to network which can come in handy later down in life.
It will also help me not put pressure on VyasSpeaks to earn me a living. I can keep this as a passion project.
I’ll keep you posted on how my first week went in the new place.
What about you though? Do you think having a full-time on-site role is better or should one look at full-time freelancing?
By the way, did you also catch the BarbieHeimer fever? Did you watch both movies?
Last weekend, I did RockyHeimer instead and watched Rocky Rani (a Bollywood movie) and Oppenheimer. While the former turned out to be a dud (despite the good reviews that I read about it), the latter is a good movie. Though I would have liked watching Oppenheimer on my laptop where I could pause the movie whenever I needed to do a Google search to understand the context better in some scenes. :D
But I think that’s enough chatter for today. Let’s talk about the reason you subscribe to Simpler Sundays - the featured post.
For this week’s post, I’ve written a micro essay instead of a short story. I love how it turned out in the end. But let me know what you think of it.
I hope you find this post valuable.
Happy reading!

Good one bud! I believe most people don't really understand the sense behind the words when they say "I see you/him/her as role my model." They get inspired by any specific talent their favorite personalities possess, and then they start following them blindly in pursuit to be like them. A guitarist can consider another guitarist, who is also a druggist, as a role model; however, it doesn't mean they should start doing drugs and affect their lifestyle.
Loved this one. The Monday motivation I needed today.
